#13 – Dr. Natalie Keefer – Global Citizenship & Social Justice

Natalie Keefer

This episode features Dr. Natalie Keefer. Dr. Keefer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She received her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a cognate in anthropology from the University of South Florida. While earning her Ph.D., Dr. Keefer taught high school social studies for ten years in Tampa, Florida.
In her first year of teaching, Dr. Keefer was a nominated finalist for the Florida Council for Social Studies, New Social Studies Teacher of the Year for the State of Florida.  Dr. Keefer’s research and scholarly interests include educational anthropology, poverty and education, experiential methods in social studies instruction, and global citizenship education. Dr. Keefer was a 2016 recipient of the Louisiana Educational Research Association Rayma Harchar Outstanding Research Paper Award. Dr. Keefer teaches K-12 social studies methods, graduate and undergraduate courses in diversity for educators, and classroom management.
